| | Venues Sidmouth FolkWeek takes place in a variety of venues – we use nearly every hall in the town as well as building a few of our own. And the streets and seafront are very much part of the Festival stage as well with impromptu performances from buskers, dance groups and entertainers to amuse you as you wander between the events.
The main concert venue is the 900 seater Ham Marquee, featuring some of the leading folk artists of the moment. The similarly sized Festival Clubhouse at the Bulverton Marquee is the place to head for if you're looking for more of a party atmosphere with a mix of rootsy concert acts and ceilidh bands, plus a few surprises.
The Manor Pavilion is a small theatre with comfortable seats, ideally suited to acoustic performances and some interesting collaborations, whilst the dining room of the Bedford Hotel provides a more intimate atmosphere.
Blackmore Gardens, in the centre of town, is the home of Young Sidmouth, our children's festival, but also features dance displays and evening ceilidhs. There are also open air ceilidhs and concerts in the gardens of the Anchor Inn, and sessions in most of the pubs. And then there are a host of other places, some of which you'll discover when you've decided which workshops, social dances, lectures, discussions, storytelling, folk clubs and more you're going to fit into the week's busy schedule.
FolkWeek Camp Site The FolkWeek Camp Site is about a mile and a half from the seafront, opposite the Bulverton Marquee site. There are toilets and showers and a food tent on the site.
The Camp Site is restricted to full week and day season ticket holders for the appropriate night(s), Supporters Club members and people who have bought event tickets in advance, for the night(s) of the event(s) only. Camping is free for children under 12 if accompanied by an adult. Family camping tickets are available for two adults and up to three youths. The camp site is mainly for tents but there is space for a limited number of caravans and motorhomes, so book in advance and book early! Please note that there is a supplement of £24 per caravan or motorhome. | | Access for people with disabilities We try to make Sidmouth FolkWeek as accommodating as possible to all people with disabilities. Wheelchair access is available at most venues and our volunteer stewards are always ready to assist with any special needs. Requests may be made, in writing, for a carer’s ticket for a person with a disability who needs a carer to be able to attend events. "The stewards were wonderfully helpful…I use a wheelchair and they really put themselves out" | |
